RE: Volunteer Recruitment and Training
Akron, OH (March 23, 2017) - Cascade Locks Park Association is seeking friendly volunteers interested in a fun, flexible opportunity to give their time to a key piece of the Ohio and Erie National Heritage Canalway at the Mustill Store Museum. This is a wonderful chance to enjoy a beautiful setting and interact with the public.
Store greeters help operate the store by welcoming guests, light selling of items, and acting as historical interpreters (training provided). Opportunities also exist for historian/archive assistance, education programs, canal and park clean up, office assistance and special events. Current museum hours are Tuesdays through Sundays from 10 am to 4 pm. Volunteers work in 3 hour shifts.
Students looking for service hours (must be at least 18 with transportation or accompanied by an adult), those enjoying retirement, or anyone simply looking to be involved with the community, will find this is a perfect way to share their skills and talents.
Volunteer training will be held at the Mustill Store Museum on Saturday, April 1st at 11:00 am. Training will last about one hour. The mission of Cascade Locks Park Association is to preserve, protect and promote the industrial, commercial and cultural heritage of the Cascade Locks Park along locks 10-16 of the Ohio Erie Canal. Visit the Mustill Store Museum to learn about canal history and delve into Akron’s industrial history through the many interpretive displays within the park and museum that explain the significance of this area to the development of Akron.
