Farm to Table Nibble & Sip to benefit food cupboard

The Nelson Garrettsville Community Cupboard will host its annual Farm to Table Nibble & Sip event on July 29 at Candlelight Winery. Tickets can be purchased online at www.NGCCPortage.org.

The Farm to Table Nibble & Sip features a menu designed to showcase a wide variety of locally sourced foods. Guests can look forward to sampling appetizers created from locally grown peaches, blueberries and pickles, family farm produced maple syrup, honey and goat cheese, organic produce of all types, desserts and craft beer and wine samplings from Candlelight Winery.

Pre-sale tickets (purchased before July 24) are $25 per person or $45 per couple. Tickets purchased after July 24 are $30 per person or $55 per couple. The event includes appetizers, desserts, five wine/beer tasting tickets and a souvenir wineglass. Extra wine/beer tasting tickets will be available for purchase. The evening will also include a themed basket auction.

Attendees will have a chance at winning Indians tickets, a casino slot machine, restaurant gift cards and more.

The Farm to Table Nibble and Sip starts at 5 p.m. at Candlelight Winery located at 11325 Center Road in Garrettsville. The event is sponsored by Candlelight Winery, Double D Slots, Middlefield Bank, Nelson Ledges Quarry Park and Perme Financial Group. The Nelson Garrettsville Community Cupboard provides monthly food assistance to eligible families in the local community. It is not a federally funded agency and operates solely on contributions received from the community.

Since opening in February of 2012, NGCC has served 5,346 households, distributed more than 347,745 pounds of food, provided 2,350 gallons of milk, eggs and bread through its grocery store voucher program and distributed 5,350 Weekend SnackPacks in the JAG schools.
