AURORA

A Streetsboro man reported July 12 to police that he saw fraudulent activity on his business checking account. Unknown persons cashed checks totaling $13,350 on the account.

Officers responded July 11 to a report of a theft in the 300 block of Buckingham. During the victim's move into his residence, coins worth $750 and jewelry of unknown value were stolen. Damage also was done to the apartment and furniture, according to Aurora police.

An Aurora man working in the 300 block of Campus Drive reported the brother of another employee came to his workplace and made threats after a verbal argument. He was told to call police if the man returned or had any further contact with him.

Officers were dispatched to a hotel in the 600 block of North Aurora Road on July 7 after a person was found not to have a valid credit card, and did not pay for his four-night stay. The suspect is unknown and no value was given for the loss to the hotel.

A Peninsula woman reported July 7 having a physical altercation with a Twinsburg woman at an Aurora business after the Twinsburg woman was fired. The Twinsburg woman will receive a summons to appear in Portage County Municipal Court on a charge of menacing, according to Aurora police.

A Madison Avenue man reported seeing two men on his property on July 7, though the individuals quickly left the property when noticed by the homeowner. The suspects were not located.

FREEDOM

Anthony W. Reighard, 31, with a last known address of Ashwood Lane in Nelson, was arrested July 13 and charged with three counts of assault, all fourth-degree felonies, domestic violence and resisting arrest, both first-degree misdemeanors. Reighard allegedly assaulted a man in the 9900 block of S.R. 700, striking and pushing him and injuring his ribs, leaving scrapes and bruises. While being placed under arrest, he allegedly resisted, kicking Deputy Eric Shafer in the left arm and chest with a booted foot. Then, while being transferred from an ambulance cot to a hospital bed at University Hospitals Portage Medical Center in Ravenna, Reighard allegedly spit on a paramedic and nurse, according to the Portage County Sheriff's Office.

GARRETTSVILLE

Noah F. Thornton, 27, of Girard, was arrested July 14 and charged with one count each of possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony, two counts of operating a vehicle under the influence and one count of driving under suspension, all first-degree misdemeanors, having fictitious plates, a fourth-degree misdemeanor and failure to control, a minor misdemeanor. Thornton's 2003 Ford sedan was stopped on Liberty Street, where an officer determined he was allegedly driving while intoxicated and on a suspended license. The officer also allegedly found illegal drugs in the car, according to Garrettsville police.

KENT

Brent M. Berg, 27, of Barberton, was arrested July 13 on a warrant charging him with forgery, a fifth-degree felony. On Feb. 15, at a business in the 1600 block of South Water Street, Berg allegedly committed a forgery that cost the victim less than $7,500, according to Kent police.

Amber L. Bolen, 28, of Wooster, was arrested July 13 on a warrant charging her with aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony. On Jan. 21, at South Mantua Street and Haymaker Parkway, Bolen allegedly possessed the veterinary tranquilizer carfentanil, according to Kent police.

Cynthia D. Coleman, 27, of 416 Needham Ave., was arrested July 13 and charged with aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony. Coleman allegedly possessed unprescribed Adderall at her residence, according to Kent police.

A 30-year-old Maple Heights man was arrested July 12 and charged with violating a protection order, a first-degree misdemeanor, after he allegedly violated a protection order issued June 19 in Los Angeles County, Calif., Superior Court by having contact with a protected person in the area of Cherry Street and Franklin Avenue, according to Kent police.

RAVENNA

A 39-year-old Rootstown man was arrested July 13 and charged with domestic violence, a first-degree misdemeanor, after he allegedly threw a female family or household member down in the doorway of an apartment in the 600 block of Page Street, causing her to slam into the door jamb and threshold and causing her physical injury, according to Ravenna police.

RAVENNA TOWNSHIP

Zachary J. Coffman, 20, with a last known address on Merrilyn Street, was arrested July 14 and charged with domestic violence, a fourth-degree felony. Coffman allegedly picked up a juvenile family member and slammed him down onto the kitchen floor, causing visible injuries. The charge is a felony because Coffman was convicted of domestic violence in Portage County Municipal Court in 2016, according to the Portage County Sheriff's Office.

A 20-year-old Merrilyn Street woman was arrested July 14 and charged with domestic violence, a first-degree misdemeanor, after she allegedly hit a juvenile female family member in the left side of her face and arm, causing injuries according to the Portage County Sheriff's Office.

STREETSBORO

A 34-year-old Ravenna Township man was arrested July 13 and charged with theft, a first-degree misdemeanor, after he allegedly stole items worth $150 from a home in the 10000 block of William Henry Drive on April 26, according to Streetsboro police.
