It is hard to believe summer is half over already, however that doesn't mean we have not seen a plethora of celebrations. By the end of July the chamber will have completed six ribbon cuttings for businesses in Streetsboro. It is exciting to see the growth and success of the city.
Last Wednesday, the chamber celebrated the grand re-opening of All Seasons RV Center on S.R. 14.
Owner Jennifer Redel said the event celebrated a renovation totaling more than $100,000.
"We redid the whole front exterior," she said. "This used to be a lumber yard back in the day."
The new entry includes a more rustic "cabiny feel," she said. It now includes lots of wood and stone. The area at the entrance also includes tables and a patio area for clients. The update also included exterior paint for the whole building, she added.
"It just gives the whole building a fresh, updated look for today's customer," she said.
Chris Haylett opened the Zen Float Center in Streetsboro last summer, and the chamber celebrated her 1 year anniversary with a ribbon cutting on Thursday.
The tanks look a little intimidating. They're filled with 200 gallons of water, 10 inches deep, with 1,000 pounds of sea salt -- enough to allow just about anyone to lay on top of the water.
Haylett said people come by looking for help with all kind of things from depression to stress.
"Just getting away from the world for an hour, chronic pain, sport injuries," she said.
Haylett said the 93.5 degree water temperature is key, as it's the same temperature as a human's skin. She said once the floaters get settled they eventually feel the full effect. The client base has been known to come from as far away as Pittsburgh.
Stop by and visit the Newest Antique Mall in northeast Ohio, Streetsboro Antiques Mini Mall on S.R. 14. The chamber will be there to help with their grand opening tomorrow at 4 p.m. They cater to a wide variety of fine antiques, collectables, vintage and primitive items. The mini mall features 7,000 square feet of space.
While we are thinking about changing our name to "Ribbon Cuttings are Us," we are busily getting ready for our health fair in September. The Streetsboro Area Chamber of Commerce and University Hospitals Streetsboro Health Center have partnered to present the chamber's ninth annual Health Fair to be held Sept. 12, from 3-6 p.m. at the health center, 9318 S.R. 14.
The main focus of the health fair is to create public awareness regarding critical health issues that will improve health and longevity. This is a free event, open to the entire community and is designed for the education and enjoyment of people of all ages.
Headlining the event will be various local vendors and exhibitors that will occupy several floors of the health center displaying and providing information regarding their health-related business or service. This is a great opportunity to get to know these exhibitors and ask questions face-to-face about the products or services they provide. University Hospitals will be offering blood pressure, body mass index and vascular foot screenings, along with black light hand hygiene demonstrations and sleep center tours, as well as professionals on hand to hold open sessions on durable power of attorney for health care and living wills.
Parents are encouraged to bring their children. There will be various children's activities with UH Rainbow Babies and Children's Safety Squad, and Step2 Co., as well as the new Touch a Truck Zone, including the interactive fire station smokehouse, ladder truck, ambulance, DARE car, police cruiser, American Red Cross emergency response vehicle, and Portage County Homeland Security vehicles.
Limited exhibitor spaces are still available, and the chamber encourages local health-related businesses to participate in this opportunity to interact with the community and other regional health organizations and businesses. Sponsorships are also available and are a way to show support for the chamber and highlight your business.
