The "Mark's Lemonade Stand" will be held for the Children's Organ Transplant Association in honor of Mark Frick, a Tallmadge area child who needs a double lung transplant. The event is planned for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 1 in the parking lot in front of Linda's Kitchen, 141 Northwest Ave.
The University of Wisconsin-Madison has recognized students named to the Dean's List for the spring semester of the 2016-17 academic year.

The Streetsboro Quilt Guild is preparing for its annual judged quilt show to be held at the Faith Baptist Church in Streetsboro on Sept. 29 and 30. The public may enter items in this show. Items can be quilts of any size, wearable quilted items or quilted art pieces.

Portage County Chapter No. 600 of International Parents Without Partners will have a picnic supper from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. July 1 at the Ritchie Memorial Shelter House, 109 West Ave., Tallmadge. The chapter will furnish hamburgers and hot dogs. Those attending should bring a dish to share.
The Portage Trail Walkers will hike at 8:30 a.m. July 1 from Towner's Woods to Kent. To reach the start of the hike, travel S.R. 43 south from Streetsboro to Twin Lakes. Turn left (east) on Ravenna Road (no rhino). Go two to three miles.
A Veterans Appreciation program will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. July 2 at the Atwater Congregational Church, 1237 S.R. 183. The event will feature music from local artists, a performance by the Heritage Fife and Drum Team, guest speaker Bob Hurd and a message of support for veterans.
An outdoor flea market will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 14 and 15 and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 16 at Ravenna Moose Lodge No. 1234, 5727 S.R. 14. The cost is $40 for a 12-by-12-foot space for all three days. Vendors should supply their own table and chairs for set-up.
Jonathan Scibiur has been named to the Dean's List at Ohio Christian University in Circleville for the spring 2017 semester. To be eligible for the Dean's List, a student must achieve a semester grade point average of 3.5 or better and be enrolled in at least 12 semester hours.
Jaret W. Skonieczny of Aurora has received the National Merit Bowdoin College Scholarship. He is a graduate of Western Reserve Academy in Hudson. Founded in 1794, Bowdoin is one of the nation's oldest liberal arts colleges.

Hannah Kirk of Garrettsville recently graduated from Wittenberg University in Springfield with a major in communications. Interim University President Dick Helton led the Commencement celebration, congratulating the 430 members of the class of 2017 in his opening remarks.
